Third One Down, Five to Go!

Well I made it through another chemo treatment on April 19th (3rd one down five to go!).  It’s hard to believe my fourth treatment is tomorrow!  Thank goodness the days are passing by quickly even though certain days seem to drag on.  This past treatment was rough (to be expected) but the initial intense nausea was not as bad as I experienced with my second treatment.  Eating more substantially (eating a turkey and cheese sandwich instead of just crackers and snack bars) during my chemo treatment and taking my additional anti-nausea meds earlier helped immensely.  Shawn and I were able to enjoy a nice lunch after treatment and then it was off the dreamland for me that afternoon.  Shawn went to pick the girls up from our friend’s house after dinnertime and I was able to spend some sweet time with each of our girls individually, cuddling in our bed before they went off to bed.  How l just LOVE that precious time with our girls! J

Overall the past two weeks have been good.  As I have stated before the first week after treatment is always rough.  My nausea wasn’t as bad this time around (thank you Jesus!!) but I was pretty tired, very low energy and I dealt with some other lovely side effects that we as chemo patients deal with but I will spare you the details. J  I was joking with some friends yesterday that I feel like a baby again with my peach fuzz for hair, napping frequently, early bedtime and discussing my bowel movements with my doctor. J   Joking and laughing about this journey I am on helps a bunch!!  I have so appreciated the times I can talk with friends and family about this and just have a good laugh. J

Going through chemo hasn’t slowed me down too much though.  On my good days, I enjoyed my time with our girls taking them swimming and play dates with our friends, date night with my hubby, spending time with friends and getting together with my family.  I was even able to go to my women’s bible study last Tuesday which I was SO happy about.  I just love my group and have missed them so much.  It was such a special time of worship and fellowship.  The two days prior to that I was not feeling so well and I was just praying to Jesus that I would feel well enough and He would give me the energy to go and He did!!

I saw my oncologist last week and she said I am doing well.  My white blood count continues to be at a good level.  She said tomorrow’s treatment will be tough but the last four should be easier.  During my last four treatments the nausea should not be as bad but I will experience some bone pain due to the chemo drug Taxol and will be tired with low energy which is to be expected.  Let’s just say I am looking forward to those last four treatments and can’t wait to get through this next week.

I continue to be blessed with all of your prayers, thoughts, help, encouragement, and love.  God is SO good!  I thank Him daily for what He is teaching me through all this and how He continues to give me the strength to endure this journey.
